Working in healthcare informatics is rewarding and challenging. I've been a nurse for 22 years and a nurse informaticist for 12. I decided to pursue a certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) through a program in Health Information Management (HIM) at the Unversity of Toledo to fill in some of the missing gaps in knowledge I needed to complete the triangle of clinical, technical, and HIM components in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
