I serve as the Program Director for the Television-Radio degree in the Roy H. Park School of Communications.
My primary teaching responsibilities are in the Television-Radio program. Among the courses I have taught include; Advanced Studio Production, Senior Media Thesis, Documentary Journalism Workshop, Television Production and Direction, Introduction to Audio Production and Introduction to Television Studio Production.
Prior to coming to Ithaca, I worked in a variety of capacities in various television stations, including as a News Producer and Reporter and newscast Director as well as numerous other production positions. Additionally I worked for a number of years as a Producer/Director for public television overseeing a variety of studio and remote productions and producing documentaries.
While at WCNY, I received several grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to produce and direct nationally distributed documentaries on issues including homeless people, working poor families, struggling dairy farmers, "behind the scenes" of television news and local currency systems. I have also served as a consulting producer and editor on documentaries focusing on minority owned radio stations, the history of social change, and ethic-centric neighborhoods.
During my time at the Park School, I completed a documentary entitled Never Too Old for Gold showcasing the athletes and competitions of the Empire State Senior Games. This documentary was distributed nationally by American Public Television.
I have also worked with the Duke University Center for Documentary Studies as part of it's Groundwork media initiative covering the issue of natural gas drilling in the Tompkins County Town of Caroline and with the Shoah Foundation Institute at the University of Southern California conducting a video ethnographic study of holocaust survivors.
Currently I am in post-production on a documentary entitled Listen to the Silents in association with the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute focusing on the "Silent Generation", Americans born between 1925 and 1942.
I earned a Master of Science degree in Television Production from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from SUNY Cortland.
