Surviving and Thriving Virtually Together: The Importance of Alumni Engagement Post-University Merger
Background: University mergers and acquisitions are on the rise in higher education. A small private college affiliated with a health system merged with a regional public university in July 2019 to form a new health sciences campus site. This study will examine how an 100% online Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program navigated the merger and engaged alumni during the three years after the innovative private-public partnership.
Methods: Strategic plan objectives and strategies focused on alumni engagement were developed. An online mixed methods quality improvement survey was administered to MHA alumni. Qualtrics’ descriptive statistics analysis was used to report frequency counts and percentage distribution.
