Robert E. Ogoreuc, Assistant Professor in the Physical Education Department at Slippery Rock University (SRU).
Mr. Ogoreuc also serves as Aquatic Director for the SRU Physical Education Department . He earned his B.S. in Education in Health and Physical Education with an emphasis in Aquatic Administration at IUP in 1989, and earned his M.ED. in Physical Education/Athletic Administration at SRU in 1996.
Mr. Ogoreuc served as the Head Swimming Coach from 1991 to 2003. He earned the 1997 PSAC Mens Coach of the Year and has been inducted into the Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame and Slippery Rock University Athletic Hall of Fame.
He holds numerous certifications such as: American Red Cross, WSI-IT, Lifeguard Instructor Trainer, Open Water Scuba Instructor (NAUI,SEI), and EMT-B to name a few. Mr. Ogoreuc has been the driving force in developing the SRU Aquatic Minor. In 2005 & 2010, Aquatic International recognized him as one of the 25 Most Powerful People in Aquatics. He has also been recognized for his teaching efforts by PSAHPERD with University Teacher of the Year. In 2002, he participated as a Scientific Diver for the Cambrian Foundations Commodore Project.
Mr. Ogoreuc has had the honor of working on the American Red Cross Water Safety Advisory Group that revised the WSI program in 2004. He has also worked as a Technical Reviewer for their Lifeguard Manuals. He has contributed to the USLA, YMCA and StarGuard lifeguard textbooks. He is the Past President of the NDPA.
In addition to his work at SRU he served as a Lt./Training Officer for the Ocean City Fire/Rescue Services: Beach Patrol in NJ. In this capacity he was responsible for training all new and recurrent lifeguards and the OCFD in surf rescue. He has co-developed the New Jerseys State Police Open Water Rescue for First Responders course. This training has been adopted throughout New Jersey and has been awarded the Higgins and Langley Award for Flood and Swiftwater program development.

Responsibilities include staff training and presentations on aquatics, water safety, drownings, first aid, cpr, and emergency management. Consulting and expert witness services for aquatic incidents and review of aquatic operations. Certifications classes provided: LGI, Lifeguarding, WSI, First Aid, CPR, Emergency Medical Responder, Wilderness and Remote First Aid, Oxygen, Boating Education, Scuba, Cold Water Immersion, and Water Rescue for First Responders.

Teach undergraduate aquatic related courses for Physical Education Majors and to the general student body. Additional duties include Developing and supervising the Aquatic Minor, Student Advising, Teacher Education Committee, Evaluation Committee, Tenure and Promotion Committee and Physical Fitness Committees. Course include: Aquatic Fundamentals, Aquatic Leadership, Lifeguarding, WSI, Skin and Scuba Diving, Lifeguard Instructor, Emergency Medical Responder, Beginning Swim, PPF-Swim. Faculty advisor to the Aquatic and SCUBA club and Swimming Team club.
