Rodney Jackson

I am a current Journalism Major with a concentration in telecommunications and a minor in marketing in the College of Arts and Sciences and J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. After graduating I aspire to begin a long and prosperous career in telecommunications with a focus in broadcasting for either a well established corporation or a young and growing station with a bright future. In doing so I hope to use the education and experience I have gained to help effectively convey information and knowledge to a mass target audience. Although I consider myself to be a fun loving and charismatic individual, I also possess a very dedicated work ethic as well and am very success driven. During my time as a student at Georgia State University I have been able to maintain a GPA above 3.0 and make the Dean's List five separate times all while working several jobs and overcoming the obstacles of day to day life. I consider resiliency to be one my strongest attributes and challenge every problem as an opportunity to gain something new to my advantage. Before recently entering a new phase on my career path, I previously worked for four years as a Millwork Associate at The Home Depot and during that time was awarded numerous Homer Badges earning me the status of silver for going beyond standard performance. I also received multiple Bravo Awards for assisting associates in other departments and in 2011 was presented with the Scoop Award for generating leads that led to the most sales in shower doors for the district. These types of accomplishments I believe, result from hard work and dedication which is why I believe that everyone has the ability to achieve any level of desired success as long as they are willing to put forth the effort. Effort is key and it is what I hold strong to.
