Majoring in Biomedical Engr-Biomaterials &
The University of Akron
From Mentor, OH
I am a third-year Biomaterials/Tissue Engineering student at The University of Akron who is matriculating to The University of Toledo College of Medicine in 2019 through the MedStart program. I am using my future B.S in Biomedical Engineering as a vehicle to medical school in order to stand out in an academically rigorous environment, as well as gain valuable soft skills and laboratory skills. Furthermore, I am obtaining clinical experience as an emergency medical scribe and Chief Scribe for the Canton-Aultman Emergency Physician group.

As a floor trainer, I am responsible for clinical training shifts for scribes-in-training. I am furthermore responsible for the trainee's success or failures as a scribe, as I am a primary source of education and training during clinical shifts. As a floor trainer, I am also a constant resource to scribes when I am on or off the floor should they need assistance, have concerns or questions. Many providers will also entrust feedback, complements, complaints and/or concerns with me due to several unique relationships with many of these providers.

CAEP Medical Scribe at ScribeAmerica
As an emergency scribe, I have undergone fundamental training in emergency-ground medical terminology and pathophysiology, as well as mastering the specific EMR, Cerner, at our site. I am responsible for the medical documentation for the patient's visit to the Emergency Department. I work alongside over 30 providers, including MDs, DOs, CNPs, FNPs, and PAs, to perform their clinical documentation. This does require sufficient knowledge of the medical decision making throughout the patient's course, as well as in-depth understanding of proper billing and coding aspects of a medical chart.
