Ryan Vanderhoff-Yarbrough

Iowa State University
From South St Paul, MN
I am a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program from Iowa State University. I am seeking a full time position starting in January 2016 that will allow me to use my experience, and problem solving skills to make a tremendous impact within a company. I have always been drawn to the idea of making new things. From drafting designs of Dr. Seuss-like machinery as a child, to taking charge in Project Lead The Way and FIRST Robotics in high school. While taking my sophomore design class at Iowa State University, I realized that my passion for creating new machines/products was derived from my internal drive to help people. If I was given the chance, I am very interested in helping veterans who were injured in combat by making tools/machines to help them accomplish their daily tasks. Along with that, I have always been interested in personal protection technologies. One of the greatest inventions I have seen in this industry are inconspicuous clothes that are bullet proof. This is a link to the website of a well known manufacturer: http://miguelcaballero.com/en/. In the end, my lifetime goal is to design something that can truly benefit people all around the world. Regardless of what industry I will go into, that is what I will strive to do. Specialties: - Modeling (SolidWorks, Autodesk) - Process Planning - Technical Problem Solving - Ethical Problem Solving - Tutoring - Scheduling - Customer Service
