Samer Al-Khateeb

I am a graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Computer and Information Science. I am studying the Online Deviant Groups (ODGs) who use the Internet, specifically social media channels, to recruit individuals to conduct deviant acts that in many cases pose a security threat to the society. My dissertation title "Studying Online Deviant Groups (ODGs): A Socio-Technical Approach Leveraging Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Social Cyber Forensics (SCF) Techniques". The three main components of my research are: studying the phenomenon of Deviant Cyber Flash Mobs (DCFMs), the use of Bots by deviant groups (e.g., ISIL and anti-NATO Propagandist), and the use of Social Cyber Forensics (SCF) to uncover/infer different relations within or between different deviant groups. I finished my bachelor, and master degree both from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA-Little Rock) majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET), and my master was in Applied Science. I am very organized, motivated, and eager to learn new things that are applicable in real world situations. Currently, I am teaching assistant of Social Media Mining and Analytics course in the department of Information Science College of Engineering and Information Technology at UA-Little Rock.
