Shahnoor Khan

I received my Advanced Regents Diploma from Goshen Central High School in June 2017. I am currently attending the State University of New York at New Paltz and majoring in International Relations. Upon receiving my Bachelor's Degree, I plan to attend law school. As a career, I will pursue International Law and private government consulting, which may lead me into a political position in the United States or abroad. Over the course of my four years in high school, I volunteered for several organizations, including the Goshen Public Library, Orange Regional Medical Center, Village Hall of Goshen, and the New York Blood Center. In December 2015 I began planning my own blood drive to take place in the following May; my drive was a huge success as we collected over seventy life-saving donations. I was recognized for my accomplishment by the New York Blood Center and received a five-hundred dollar scholarship. In the summer of 2016, I began two part-time jobs as a retail associate at Osh Kosh B'Gosh and Calvin Klein, respectively. In June 2015 I got the opportunity to intern for the Mayor of Goshen, Kyle Roddey. Through this internship I met with the Goshen Chamber of Commerce and local legislators, learning about my town's economy and the fundamentals of politics. That summer I worked on a "Buy Local" initiative to stimulate economic growth in the community. The following summer, in 2016, I worked on a program to bring a graduate school into the Village of Goshen by contacting dozens of universities in New York. In September 2016 I became an intern for Sussman and Watkins Law Office in Goshen. During my time there I read through dozens of cases and studied criminal, civil, and family law. This internship solidified my decision to pursue law by giving me actual experience in my field. During the duration of my internship, partnership at the office changed from Sussman and Watkins to Sussman and Associates.
