June, 30 2021 - Verified by University of Saint JosephWhile working closely with Alex Correia, Coordinator of Conference and Meeting Services at the University of St. Joseph, I was fortunate enough to be n integral part of planning the 9th annual "Vines of March", an event hosted by the Rotary Club of West Hartford the Rotary Club of West Hartford. This event was held on Saturday, March 7, 2020, here on the university's campus. Throughout the process, I was assigned to assist Alex in proposing strategies and room layout for the event, dealing with clients and striving to meet their needs, securing a final head count, reviewing all associated costs (table/linen/chair rentals, security costs, etc.), as well as the university's responsibilities and cost inclusions of additional rental fees and incidental costs that may arise.
I also provided statistical support for external planning and helped to construct and analyze all work orders.
On March 23, 2019, I volunteered at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut to be a volunteer for the first round of the NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament. In this capacity, I communicated directions to the general public as they entered the arena, directing and assisting guests in finding their seats as well as monitoring all stairwells and walkways to be accessible in case of an emergency.
It was in this capacity that I became the assistant to Josh Ingham, Our Sports Information Director here at the University of St. Joseph. During this semester, I worked closely with Josh, taking photographs of games, posting live feeds to social media and the university's atletic page, announcing softball games during home games, working with our assistant athletic director setting up and breaking down equipment prior to and at the conclusion of games/events as well as programming statistical data for the university's home lacrosse games.
Once "retiring" as a member of the Newington Swim Club, I was invited back to become an assistant coach. Working with our 8 year old and under group, it is here that I teach them proper stroke and diving techniques through formulated practices and dry land warm-ups, as well as helping them to increase their speed and stamina for future meets. Working May through August, during the spring and summer sessions, I devote roughly 10 hours a week coaching and occassional weekends to coach a meet. I try to lead by example and mentor these youngsters to be tough competitors and learn the art of good sportmanship.
