Cohen Scholars serve as student ambassadors representing the College of Business at various events throughout the year and receive an annual merit scholarship of $5,000. In addition, Cohen Scholars participate in a professional development seminar called the Cohen Scholars Chautauqua every other week, a unique opportunity to explore and enhance students' skills and attributes.

Peer Advisor

Each first-year student is assigned to an upper-class student trained to serve as a source of information, point of first contact, and conduit to program and services. Peer Advisors coach students to form a personal success plan and advocate for student success. The personal success plan provides a framework for establishing specific, reasonable, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely goals for the first semester. Peer Advisors (PAs) hail from as close as right here in Springfield, MA, to as far as Florida! PAs undergo over 150 hours of training in order to better support first-year students. Being a volunteer position, PAs have a strong focus on helping their advisees, and work to make YOUR transition as great as it can be!

Class of 2022 Council

Class Council comprised about 25 students who have worked together for the last three years hosting Golden Hours on-campus weekend programs, community service, and fundraising for their senior events. Come senior year, and they diligently plan major senior social events such as graduation celebrations, Senior Formal, and Senior Week. They also work collaboratively with the other councils to host an all-council-sponsored program in the spring semester. Everything they have learned and worked for on council has prepared them to put on some great programs for their class to wrap up their time at Western New England.

Guiding first-year students and parents through the SOAR program are current students selected for their expertise and commitment to the first-year experience. They are eager to help and provide a clear and honest response to their own college experiences. To support new students in their transitions, SOAR was created in 1984. Since that time, it has become an integral notable part of the first-year program. The essential purpose of SOAR is to provide entering students and parents with requisite information and structure for effective adjustment to the university environment and create a realistic perspective on corresponding academic and social demands. SOAR is most about setting the stage for academic readiness and community integration.

Starbucks baristas perform several job duties and provide customer service. Baristas at Starbucks take orders and make coffee, tea, and other drinks to customer specifications. Starbucks baristas may also operate cash registers and credit card machines. Baristas may field customer complaints or questions, as well. Baristas at Starbucks also must often clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, restrooms, and preparation areas during a normal shift. Baristas work to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages as well as complete assigned tasks from management every day.

Digital Marketing Plan for Hot Oven Cookies

As a semester term project conducted market and digital media research for Sheila Coon, owner of Hot Oven Cookies. Implemented a digital media plan for four weeks and presented and discussed findings with the client during weekly meetings. We comprised a report and submitted it to her, and held a presentation for her via Zoom.
