Patricia Chick, RN, SANE-A is attending undergraduate school RN to BSN at Youngstown State University for the past year to complete her BSN then complete her MSN. She has been a RN since 2006, initially working for Heritage Valley Health Systems as an emergency room nurse and sexual assault coordinator for Beaver County, PA for over thirteen years. During that time, she discovered her love of emergency medicine, forensic nursing and teaching. She was recruited in 2017 to work for the Department of Veteran Affairs -Pittsburgh, Community Based Outpatient Clinic for veteran services in Rochester, PA. as a PACT Team Clinical Care Manager and Assistant Clinical Coordinator. Serving our countries honored veterans and military families with their healthcare needs by coordinating and collaborating care efforts to initiate or maintain healthcare needs with the VA system and local health care facilities. She is a member of the International Forensic Association of Nurses, Emergency Nurses Association, Ohio Nurses Association and Pennsylvania Nurses Association. She served a SEIU alternate delegate for nursing negotiations with Heritage Valley Health System management from 2011 to 2017. She maintains active Nursing licensure in the state of Ohio and Pennsylvania. She has contributed to projects for Heritage Valley Health System as Practice Council President for emergency room working with a team of nurses to solve department deficiencies and serve as change agents in technology, procedures, and patient care at HVHS. As LEAN Project Coordinator for HVHS emergency department she helped orchestrate problem-solving strategies to aid cardiac patients in transport to inpatient services while on tele-monitors by maintaining cardiac observation of the patient, allowing the emergency room nurses to remain in the ER setting while receiving new unstable patients for care. As a Nursing preceptor for emergency nurses her duties included acclimating new nurses to the technology of devices used, knowledge of hospital polices and protocols. She worked with Beaver County Womans Shelter as a result of a sponsored STOP grant for Beaver County. Working in collaboration with Beaver County Law Enforcement and Beaver County District Attorney s office as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and medical expert while continuing to serve as a change agent within the emergency department. Patricia Chick, RN, SANE-A, earned her ADN from Kent State University on a nursing scholarship. She attended Ohio Valley Business school and obtained her Associate Degree in Business and University of Pittsburgh dental radiology while working for Oral- Maxillo facial surgeon Dr. Lee Chewning as a clinical manager, first surgical assistant, and anesthesia assistant for over twelve years. She has attended, University of North Dakota for Death Investigation and most recently completed courses for the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiners Office regarding death investigation and collection of evidence. Role of the nurse investigator to investigate deaths, abuse and neglect that may be natural or have questions that the law enforcement may need answers to. She maintains a passion for nursing and is instrumental in change within a workforce. Her leadership skills an innovative project for patient care continue to evolve with the change of the community needs. No words can describe the unsounding satisfaction she acquires when advocating for others. Her work ethics as a registered nurse are to maintain loyalty, reliability, honesty and service before self-have been incorporated into her daily practice of professional nursing.

SANE Preceptor
As SANE preceptor, I would train on boarding RN to emergency department and maintain continuing education in classroom presentation for established nurses with in the emergency department. Maintain up to date information in regard to sexual assault, collection of evidence, designed and implemented Sexual Assault Response Cart , evidence collection binders and PA laws to victims and perpetrators. Worked closely with local Women's Shelter of Beaver County, Beaver County law enforcement and the Beaver County District Attorney's office in Beaver County.
