Tyler Coar enjoys CCU's study abroad to Trinidad
Tyler Coar of Crofton, MD, was one of 14 Coastal Carolina University students who traveled to Trinidad and Tabago for a Wintermester study abroad trip.
The students and two faculty members spent their winter break watching and studying preparations for Carnivale in Trinidad, playing and listening to calypso music and attending a Hindu wedding ceremony. The group traveled to the Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tabago. Students were able to get three credit hours for successfully completing one of three courses - World Music, Understanding Other Cultures or Independent Study.
Gillian Richards-Greaves, assistant professor of anthropology, and Jesse Willis, assistant professor of music and director of percussion studies, accompanied the students, instructed them and gave hands-on assignments.
