Majoring in Construction Engineering Tech, Fire Protection Tech, Minoring in Geology
The University of Akron, Class of 2019
From Solon, OH
In all honesty attending college at the University of Akron has allowed me to experience different cultures and personalities. In fact adjusting to the stress of homework and daily life has become overwhelming. Dealing with certain aspects of life such as exercise and nutrition plays a huge factor in proper decision making. Although, having friends can help alleviate and subdue stress. I've learned the type of associates and friends can be an asset or liability. Trusting people is a hard task when you want to develop authentic friendships. So, usually everyone loves you as a person until your happy or doing better than them in some materlistic way. Being a victim of harassment this year has given a better understanding of how evil people can be. Feeling like someone is gonna intentionally try to harm or disrespect you is a horrific experience. So I told my self "I can't live in fear or have someone jeopardize why I'm here."Many people have taken my humility, integrity and positivity as weakness so this has caused me to develop a stern attitude. To avoid anyone getting seriously hurt I decided to take the initiative and contact someone to extinguish the current conflict. Utilizing the Student Judiciary Affairs has helped ease tension, and rectify the issue. Eventually, Student Judiciary Affairs my small problem has been quickly resolved. At the time dealing with massive home work assignments and stress from a fellow classmate caused my grades and attitude to slip. Resisting the temptation of further conflict helped get mind my on track towards positive progression in school. In conclusion, contacting the UA administration has provided extreme comfort and reassurance for my safety as a student. In essence , I successfully completed a year with a 3.8 due to my ability to adapt and utilize the service provided by the school.

Urban Agriculture
The main goal of the Urban Agriculture Student Organization is to spread awareness of quality local gardening, farming and food production in the city of Akron. As part of this goal, we hope to raise the standard of quality food options at the University of Akron and create a network with other neighboring schools. To achieve these goals, we have started a community garden on campus and we are raising funds with the goal of implementing a seasonal extension of food cultivation through methods such as a solar greenhouse. We see the local production of quality healthy food as a means to address a current issues ranging from air pollution, waste management to unemployment. We also see food as an important catalyst to create unity and raise consciousness among the different cultures that comprise the University of Akron and the surrounding neighborhoods.
