Naturalist at Forest Preserve District of DuPage County
I have worked to align programming to Next Generation Science Standards and provide educational opportunities for a variety of ages and grade levels while promoting the mission of FPDDC. I have written and implemented a curriculum of team-building activities for our Get Outside field trip and trained other staff in facilitating these programs. Through two summer camp seasons, I have led several camp weeks, including several I have written, focusing on the elements, gross science, and animals that fly. My background in lesson planning and educational methodology has allowed me to create programming that includes informal assessment and appropriate transitions to create meaningful learning experiences. In addition to teaching programs, I have worked to provide Fullersburg with simple opportunities to allow visitors to connect with our preserve in new ways including a monthly Hide and Seek in the Visitor Center and a Nature Quest Challenge Backpack to expand our Borrow a Backpack program.
