Victoria Soares

My name is Victoria Soares and I am currently a Senior Sociology Major with a Minor in Womens and Gender Studies at Wilkes University, anticipating graduation in May of 2018. I am enrolled in school full-time while also being employed full-time at Amazon Fulfillment Center in Hazel Township. I am currently on an educational journey of expanding my knowledge, experience, and attention to Sociology as a discipline, as well as a foundation for my career path. By allowing myself to recognize and look beyond a persons' individual motivation and psychological foundation, I can grasp a better understanding, and greater importance, of how personal social location regarding race/gender/class etc., all influence the individual thinking and behavior of one another across the world at every given time. Many things people experience are not immediately visible in our every day lives, which are generally not so neatly understandable. However, these are the dynamics to how social life is structured and organized. We don't generally notice those factors and how they actually influence us and the opportunities we come across and experience. These matter very much in ordinary day-to-day life. I aspire to devote my future to studying and focusing on the things in life that many people overlook and fail to recognize. These are the things that build the social structure and culture around each and every one of us. I will continue to explore and grasp the different opportunities that cross my path on this life long journey and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
