Community College Student Advisory Council Member at TX PACE

Member of the Community College Student Advisory Council selected by a coalition of advocacy agencies in Texas, including Young Invincibles, Every Texan, Breakthrough Central Texas, and The Education Trust in Texas, as part of Texas PACE (Postsecondary Advocates Coalition for Equity). The Student Advisory Council is composed of current community college students and recent alumni who will follow the work of the Commission, provide feedback and recommendations, and engage directly with Commission members. Includes training and education that will include storytelling, policy analysis, media training, legislative training, and advocacy.

Twelve representatives were selected to represent Texas Community College students and to advise the Texas Commission on Community College Finance created by SB 1230 at the 87th session of the Texas State Legislature.

Duties included speaking at the Community College Association of Texas Trustees (CCATT) Annual Conference in June 2022. Panelist at Young Invincibles Missed Connections Summitt: Exploring Opportunity Gaps in Texass Higher Education & Workforce Development in April 2022.
Speaking at the Texas Postsecondary Advocates Coalition for Equity (PACE) Meeting for October 2022.
Providing Testimony to the Texas Commission of Community College Finance during their June 21st Hearing.

The Piney Dark is an annual collection of the works of winners of the Stephen F. Austin State University English Department’s Horror Short Story Contest. 3rd Place 2022 Undergraduate Fiction Category, “Panther.” 3rd Place 2022 Poetry Category. “Piney Woods.” Honorable Mention for poetry, “Witches and Wives Tales.”

Independent research completed with the guidance of Ethics professor Dr. Abigail Bruxvoort. This project involved research and discernment. Ultimately culminating in a seminar paper on the topic of Artificial Intelligence and our moral obligations to AI and humans.

Honor in Action Hallmark Project for Phi Theta Kappa
Hallmark Award Project, Honors in Action (HIA) seeks to research, study and address a real-world problem or challenge to the community. Completed chapter project on community service and programs offered by Tyler Junior College. Presented at the Texas Regional Conference in 2022 by Victoria Hoover and Jordan Booth. The project was selected for recognition by Phi Theta Kappa.
