I am a Ph.D. student in Human Centered Computing in the school of Interactive Computing in the College of Computing at Georgia Tech. I am based in Dr. Bruce Walkers Sonification Lab, where we conduct research primarily with sound. Much of our research has been in audio displays and menus and multi-modal input and output. Many of our projects deal with audio discrimination of sound, including audio graphs and understanding of information displayed with sound. This has included projects such as a sound based navigation system for blind people and a sound based interface for accessing aquariums. My primary research area is making Statistical output from mathematical calculating packages such as SPSS and SAS readily accessible to blind students and fellow researchers. My research uses sonification of visual graphs that represent the Statistical output and is the continuation of my Masters project for my Human Computer Interaction Masters degree from 2013. Hopefully all this work will culminate in a dissertation related to the solution sometime around the Spring of 2016.
Athletic accomplishments
I am a retired U.S.A. Paralympian. I competed in the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Games in Atlanta, Sydney, and Athens respectively. I am the record holder for the Pentathlon and Discus throw for the totally blind category for the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) and am have the distinction of having thrown the second farthest discus throw in history for totally blind athletes!
