Nathaniel Wienecke

The Honorable Nathaniel F. Wienecke is Senior Vice President of Federal Government Relations at the Property and Casualty Insurers Association of America. Joining PCI in 2012, he represents the insurance industry before Congress and the Executive Branch. Prior to joining PCI, he worked for JPMorgan, Chase & Co. in both Washington and New York. Previously he founded Conscience Point Consulting and was in public service for nearly 15 years on Capitol Hill and the Executive Branch. Sworn in on August 21, 2006 as Assistant Secretary for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Mr. Wienecke was the youngest Assistant Secretary of Commerce during the Bush Administration. He served as a senior advisor to Secretary Carlos Gutierrez and managed these diverse efforts across the Departments 12 bureaus with some 41,000 employees and a $9 billion budget He was charged with the oversight and operations of a legislative staff of 86 and $10 million in annual funding. A veteran of many political campaigns, Mr. Wienecke has extensive experience at the grass roots. He worked on both the election and reelection efforts of President George W. Bush including managing county-level recount efforts in Florida in 2000. Having worked on many Senate and House of Representatives campaign efforts, he has significant experience in coalition building and get out the vote efforts. He also served in the U.S. House of Representatives as senior staff on the Committee on Government Reform. He began his Capitol Hill career as a legislative correspondent and later legislative assistant to several senior Members of Congress. Mr. Wienecke, a native of Illinois, spent his formative years in New York and has a masters in business administration from MIT and a bachelors degree from the State University of New York College at Oneonta. Wienecke and his wife, Chantal, live on Capitol Hill and have one daughter, Kendall.
