My goal is to earn my degree and obtain a job in the field of medicine. As I work towards earning my B.S. in Biology, I hope to inspire others to continue their education and achieve their career goals. Currently, I am working in the VSU mosquito lab where I have found an immense interest in the different species of mosquitoes and the mosquito borne diseases found in South Eastern USA. My plan is to at some point conduct research using the skills and interests that I have gained through my experience in the mosquito lab.

Work Experience

Mosquito ID Technician at Valdosta State University WNV Mosquito Surveillance Program

Mosquito ID technicians learn how to identify around 30 species of mosquitoes that are found in Lowndes County. Also, ID techs are taught how to properly process mosquito traps and the mosquitoes that they contain. Mosquito species of concern are then bottled and sent for testing of diseases such as west nile virus.
