Yuri Casas is an educator and librarian. He has earned an undergraduate degree in Library Science from San Marcos University (Lima, Peru). Additionally, he has earned a BA in Education Science with a minor in Spanish. He is a Spanish instructor at Virginia and owner of a multicultural bookstore: Fluffy books online. Mr. Casas worked developing databases for libraries for 10 years in Peru. In the United States, worked as a school librarian at St. Louis, Missouri, and currently at Washington, D.C. Public Schools. he was a Librarian LibGuide intern at the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress. He earned his MLS at Emporia State University (Portland cohort). Finally, since 2020, he is a librarian volunteer at Librarian Reserve Corp. A World Health Organization WHO.

Librarian Intern in The Hispanic Division at The Library of Congress

The practicum assignment was to complete 80 hours as an intern librarian in the Hispanic Division and write journals about my stay at the Library of Congress.

I was a librarian intern in the Hispanic Division. I was assigned to support the selection and evaluation of bilingual books (Spanish and English) in Social Sciences and Humanities. This allocation of books implied identifying and evaluating publications to finally add HLAS to the Handbook of Latin America studies.

Developing a Collection Project of the Inca Empire Collection
Description: The collection development project is a suggestion addressed to academic libraries with Latin American studies departments. The purpose was to identify, select and curate publications about the Inca culture and covering topics such as ethnohistory, architecture, history, and ancestral art.

Multicultural Latinx Books: Children school resources
This assignment was to design and create a pathfinder and infographics that explore children's books and personal beliefs about the diversity of different Latino communities. The pathfinder is aimed at the elementary school community and serves to explore and promote renowned Hispanic authors through a selection of award-winning books and through online infographics. The pathfinders and infographics assisted by technological applications allow the necessary technique to implement library resources and develop effective communication with users.
