Abigail Hughes focuses on harp performance and is an active orchestral musician, solo performer, and chamber music recitalist in the Fox Valley and Chicago areas. She has performed with several ensembles including the Chicago Harp Ensemble, the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra, the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra, Rising Star Theatreworks Pit Orchestra, the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra. She also participated in the American Grands XVIII Piano Showcase, Teachers and Performers level; and has performed in venues including the Illinois State Capitol Building, Museum of Science and Industry, Paramount Theatre, Lyon and Healy Hall at Lyon and Healy Harps, and Fulton Recital Hall at University of Chicago. In addition, Abigail was accepted to the Birch Creek Music Performance Center to attend their 2013 and 2014 Symphony Sessions. She has received numerous awards and scholarships including the 1st Runner-up Outstanding Performer Percussion/Piano/Harp student award, the 2013 Outstanding Performers Scholarship from Birch Creek, and the Gulbranson Merit Scholarship from Wheaton College Conservatory of Music. Abigail enjoys collaborating with her musician colleagues. She has recorded with multiple performing artists including The Jank Guitar Store and American singer Casely. She plays in numerous chamber ensembles giving performances at Wheaton College, Trinity College, and Elgin Community College. Abigail also has an active teaching career. She has taught out of JC's Guitars and Strings and runs her own private studio for piano and harp, established in 2013. Her students actively participate in recitals, local competitions, and youth ensembles.
