Dr. AJ Ramirez joined the Valdosta State University faculty in 2012. She holds a Doctor of Education and a Master of Science in marriage and family therapy both from Valdosta State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in sociology with a minor in history from the University of North Georgia. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor. She holds membership in the Licensed Professional Counselor Association of Georgia, Southeastern Women's Studies Association, National Counselor Association, American Sociological Association, and Georgia Sociological Association. She previously taught at Florida State University in the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program. She is currently the Coordinator of Valdosta State University's Women's & Gender Studies program. She is also the owner of L.E.A.F. Therapy Services LLC in Valdosta, Georgia since 2011.
