"Adopt A Senior"
I was one of the students who graduated during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. All of us as a senior class lost everything we were promised as a way to celebrate our graduation. I knew this wasn’t fair, and I had to take action. I created an “Adopt a Senior” program. This was a Facebook based group where the parent/guardian of the graduating senior could post their senior up for “adoption”, listing a few things the senior was interested in, and what their post-high school plans were. Community members of our town would then “adopt” a senior and shower them with gifts, words of encouragement, balloons, surprises, anything they wanted! I was featured on WBZ and WMUR news, I was featured in the school newspaper, and in a page of our classes yearbook .
