Alexei Aceto

Alexei Aceto is an aspiring young pianist committed to bringing a new, inventive edge to music performance. Coming from a multi-generational musical family, he began studying the piano at age four, and now studies with Dr. Charis Dimaras at Whalen School of Music at Ithaca College. He held his first full-length solo recital at age twelve at Cornell University's Barnes Hall. The following year, he co-authored the multi-media stage production Reading Satie: Les Sports et divertissements, which featured the piano music and dadaist poetry of modernist composer Erik Satie combined with original found footage digital projections. Accepted at age fifteen in to the studio of Dr. Dimaras, notable recital cycles in which Alexei has participated include celebrations of the music of Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, and Busoni. Alexei is recipient of honors in multiple competitions, including First Prize in the Senior Category in the 2014 Nazareth College Piano Solo Competition, first prize in the 36th Ithaca College Annual Concerto Competition in 2015, the single Honorable Mention in the 2016 CMM and Symphoria Concerto Competition, and the award for Artistic Excellence at the 2017 Claudette Sorel Competition at SUNY Fredonia School of Music. He has also studied performance techniques of baroque organ with Cornell University's Professor Annette Richards, and has received coaching from numerous music professionals. Alexei was selected by Binghamton organization Classical Pianists of the Future and performed in March 2017 on WSKG's "Classical Expressions" TV program, and gave a full-length solo recital for the organization's 10th anniversary Spring season.
