Best Buddies
Best Buddies helps create opportunities for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The volunteers/mentors would be paired with a buddy and they could take their buddy to a movie or just spend time with them during the day at school. The volunteers help them build their self-esteem and make connections with others. At Douglas, I had the opportunity to participate in many fundraisers so we were be able to participate in activities outside of school with the group. It was a great opportunity that I will always remember and I hope to continue volunteering whenever I can.

Peer Leaders
I started peer leaders my freshman year in high school in the fall of 2014 and ended in the spring of 2018. Being a member of peer leaders has helped me develop leadership skills that I continue to use today. As a member of peer leaders, I attended a drunk driving seminar at the Worcester District Attorneys Office. After the presentation we had to create a video and presentation to share with the school on the dangers of drunk driving. We also hosted a food drive every year and all of the food would go to our local church.
