In my role as Safety Intern for Neenah Enterprises, Inc. (Neenah Foundry), I have been assigned the task of developing and implementing written policies, procedures and training in regards to cranes, hoists and lifting devices and contractor safety. I work directly with the Vice President of Safety and Security and the facility's two Safety Supervisors to promote and grow an active safety culture in a heavy industrial setting. I have also been given the opportunity to work with the on-site nursing staff to receive experience in first aid treatment and OSHA documentation.

Safety Co-Op at Kohler Co.
As the Safety Co-Op for Kohler Engines, I worked closely with Kohler Engine's Safety Specialist and corporate management to build and promote an active safety culture. During my eight months with Kohler Company, I received a wide variety of safety experience. I was involved in multiple ergonomic assessments and projects and became certified in Applied Industrial Ergonomics. I was also involved in a plant wide wall-to-wall safety inspection and assisted the Safety Specialist in fixing findings in regards to hazardous communication, machine guarding and ergonomics. I actively participated in monthly Safety Team plant audits and worked with floor level supervisory staff to get findings documented and completed. I was placed in charge of second shift safety training while at Kohler and trained on a wide range of topics spanning from LO/TO, machine guarding and confined space awareness to back safety and heat stress. Accident investigation and follow-up also encompassed a large part of my role as a Safety Intern as well as program development and implementation. Lastly, I worked closely with Corporate EHS staff to perform monthly environmental plant audits.
