I am a physicist, a computer programmer and a problem solver. Throughout my PhD program, I have collaborated with fellow scientists in my field. I managed 3 major research projects which resulted in 2 first-author publications, a presentation at the OSTC symposium, 2014 at the University of Iowa and the successful completion of my doctoral dissertation.
All my research projects at the University of Iowa involved mathematical, statistical and computational works to get them done. Along the way, I also trained in statistical data analysis techniques and algorithms. I am good in working in a collaborative team, in seeking out resources and help as needed. Last summer, I undertook some freelance data analysis projects for fun. In these projects, I cleansed raw data, analyzed them and used different regression methods to build predictive models in SAS and MS Azure ML Studio. I am comfortable with C++, Mathematica, R, T-SQL and SAS and constantly learning new languages and tools to broaden my horizon.
As a scientist, I wish to contribute positively to the world by helping improve our modern-day technologies. The two things that drive me are the intrigue of solving a problem and the knowledge that the solution will be used for the good of humanity. In five years, I see myself leading a group of talented individuals in a state-of-the-art research facility, breaking down the wall between fiction and reality.
I am looking forward to using my experience and training in a competitive professional environment that will also allow me to learn and grow. I am particularly interested in software engineering, data analysis and machine learning because both my skills and interests align well with them. I am currently looking for opportunities and I would like to connect to anyone who has interests intersecting mine. I can be reached via email at anikiqbal77@gmail.com.
