I picked up a glitter crayon in my left hand when I was a little girl and I guess it's true what people say about left-handed people: they're the creative ones. I had a mighty need to create. I wanted to draw my ideas and how I saw the world. Not much has changed since then (besides taking on responsibilities that no kid wants, like bills and keeping food in my stomach--I sure do miss mom). However, once I graduated high school I put down the glitter crayon. I thought wielding that glitter crayon through college--pursuing art as a means to survive in society--could not be practical. I studied anything I thought would score me a well-paying career: finance, mathematics and many others but none of them filled me up. I felt drained and confused. Eventually I landed on convergence journalism coming into my fourth year of college. Here I scored the title as Editor-in-Chief for the school newspaper. I had a good position to add to my resume and was about to graduate with a potential job opportunity. I was a literal backpack journalist--I did everything: photography, writing, interviewing, editing, graphic design and more--but I was miserable. I worked hard at something I had no passion for. I felt trapped and defeated, but a familiar yet neglected glitter crayon had been there all along. So, I picked myself up--and the glitter crayon--and set forth towards a new school to pursue a drawing degree in Studio Art. Here I am now, a semester completed and happier than ever. All of the struggles, hard work and hard lessons have gotten me here. As I want to keep pushing to better myself through this journey and share my ridiculously loyal and meticulous work ethic (I've been told I work way too hard), I'd be happy to offer what I have to you.
