April Shinsky

I came from a small town and a small school. I found everything I wanted in a university here. I found friends, sports, great professors, and, the best part, it was close to home. When I started classes my freshman year (man, that seems like so long ago!), I was undeclared. I had no idea what I wanted to major in. I had many interests, such as helping people, working in science (I loved studying the different areas of science!), and I simply loved being with children. I ended my freshman year by taking the introductory education course with a few of my friends. I ended up in a school that I loved with students that I grew to love over the course of the four short visits to their classroom. This course and my experiences in it, have brought me to where I am today. I chose to declare a PreK-6/Liberal Arts major the fall of my sophomore year. As a senior, I look forward to my time in the classroom. I am finishing up classes this fall and will student teach in the spring. I am excited.
