Ashley Lokken

Ashley Rose Lkken is a Journalism Major at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. She was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and raised in South Florida. She attended West Broward High School where she was Captain and of the Varsity Colorguard from 2009 to 2012. She led her team to numerous victories including the Bronze Medal in 2010 and the Silver Medal in 2011 at Winterguard International's World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. She also achieved four Gold Medals from South Florida Winterguard Association's Championships. She carried her team from Scholastic B Class to World Class in four years. She was awarded Most Outstanding Colorguard Member her senior year. When she was a sophomore in high school she was selected to travel the United States on a full scholarship with a World Class Drum & Bugle Corp, Teal Sound. She performed for thousands of people at venues such as The Lucas Oil (Indianapolis Colts) Stadium, The Atlanta Falcons Dome, and The University of Dayton Arena. After graduating from West Broward she became an instructor and mentor for the Varsity Guard. At Broward College, she was Central Bureau Chief and then shortly after promoted to Copy Editor for the BC Observer. Ashley also writes poetry and fiction. Her work has been selected to be published twice in the Literary Magazine, P'an Ku. She achieved her Associate's in the Art's Degree from Broward College. At Emerson College, Ashley was the Social Media Director for Odyssey at Emerson from August 2015 to January 2016 and was then promoted to Contributing Editor in January 2016. She was also the Social Media Director of the Emerson College newspaper, The Berkeley Beacon, from 2015-2017.
