Avi Solkoff
Hello everyone!
My name is Avi Solkoff and I am currently an MA student at the University at Albany, SUNY focusing in Interpersonal/Intercultural Communications and enjoying every second of it!
I'm hoping to use the skills and knowledge I've gained while at the University of Albany, as well as from internships and jobs I've had to become a vital asset in the career of my choice. I'd like to be a part of 1 of 3 different fields: communications consultation, career services or Judaic activities in higher education. Each of these three categories have something in common which I consider my dream: making others dreams and aspiration a reality.
I want to be able to be influential in others lives whether it be through proper business communications, guiding young professionals on their future career paths or helping Jews in higher education settings become closer to their Judaism.

Student assistant to Communications Department Professional Advisor at University At Albany
1. Assist the professional advisor with advisement for COM and JRL students including:
a) Downloading DARS audits
b) Preparing advisement forms for a student’s next semester of study
c) Meeting with students to review degree completion checklists during Departmental advisement periods.
2. Assist the professional advisor with alumni relations activities, such as setting up alumni talks, including but not limited to:
a) Providing directions to campus
b) Creating event flyers
c) Promoting the event through social media channels
d) Attending event & documenting it for department social media channels
3. Assist the professional advisor with undergraduate student engagement activities, such as (but not limited to) publicizing internship experiences and other applied learning experiences in the department, working with faculty to publicize their research activities to students and opportunities for undergraduate research.
4. Assist the professional advisor and the Director of Undergraduate Studies with coordinating undergraduate student engagement in Department open house events (for example, by assisting with recruiting undergraduate spokespersons to talk about the major).
5. Assist with annual recognition ceremony during Commencement weekend.
