Improving Help-Seeking for Psychological Distress in College Students
Many college students struggle with mental health difficulties but do not ever seek professional help, despite the existence of evidence-based treatments. This experiment investigates how viewing an informational/ promotional brochure regarding mental health resources will affect help-seeking factors in college students, including knowledge of resources, levels of stigma, attitudes towards seeking help, willingness to seek help, and intention to seek help. Participants in the experimental condition read a brochure about mental health resources on and off campus. Participants in the control condition read a brochure about general University of Tampa facts. Our poster will present the preliminary results and implications of the study.
