Radiology Receptionist at The University of Iowa Health Care
As a receptionist in the University of Iowa radiology department, I float from Breast Imaging, General X-Ray, Pediatric X-ray, Ultrasound, Musculoskeletal, and MRI. I check patients in using Epic software. During check-in, I make sure information such as patient insurance, address, phone numbers, emergency contacts, and doctors listed are up to date in their medical record. The other main part of my job is answering phone calls. We get calls from inpatient units to set up portable X-rays, for trans-aides to bring a patient to radiology, patients asking to schedule exams, and calls from doctors. Other things I may assist with are scanning documents, going through screening forms, making imaging disks, creating letters, getting patients changed for their exam, and answering any general questions the patient might have before an exam.
