I'm currently a sophomore and from Iowa City. I plan to graduate with a BS in Computer Science and a BS in Statistics in 2026, and to complete a U2G or a 4 + 1 program in Computer Science. I'm a member of the Honors program, the student chapter of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), and I occasionally attend events by the Spanish Club.

Study Abroad
I did two programs in Madrid, Spain. The first was from May 16th to June 12th and was a faculty-led course taught by Luis Martin Estudillo. I learned about Spanish history, culture, and art in this course (I completed a blog for the first program: https://hourcadeben.wixsite.com/bhourcadeespana24). For the next two weeks, I traveled to the province of Jaen where I learned more about my mother's side of my family. Then, from July 1st to July 31st, I completed my second program under USAC Madrid.

ACM is a professional club for computer science students and students from similar disciplines. This club focusses on emerging technologies in the field and how to improve skills for acquiring jobs opportunities. The club atmosphere is informal and there is always food for everything during the meetings.

Study Abroad in Spain Blog
I wrote a blog for Cultures of Spain, a faculty-led study abroad course. I spent most of my time in Spain's capital, Madrid. I highly recommend this course for anyone interested in Spanish history, culture, or art.

Classwork
Software Development Final Project
This was a group project. Sprint 1 and Sprint 2 were considered regular assignments and Sprint 3 was a substitute for the final exam. My group got a 100% on all three sprints. I wrote most of the tests and coordinated the rest of my group mates to finish the project well and on time. I learned how to communicate well in a group, how to interpret pre-written code, and how to ask professor Goddard and the TAs intricate questions about the project. This project is only available internally within the University of Iowa.
