Hello! I am currently a student at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln majoring in Psychology and double minoring in Humanities in Medicine and Sociology. In my studies, I am particularly interested in the influence of race-based discrimination and other socioeconomic factors on physical and mental health inequalities.
As an undergraduate research assistant at MHDI (Minority Health Disparities Initiative) I am currently working on the Health Voice Vision project and research concerning mental health disparities and service utilization among refugees and immigrants in Rural Nebraska. I also worked as undergraduate research assistant for Dr. Goosby and Dr. Cheadle in the Biosociology of Minority Health Disparities Lab. I am the president of Active Minds, a national organization with a local chapter that is dedicated to de-stigmatizing mental illnesses on college campus and starting the conversation about mental health while encouraging help-seeking behavior. I am also programmer of the Minority Pre-Health Association and volunteer at the People City Mission's Free Health Clinic. In 2017, I was a scholar in the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at University of Washington's School of Medicine and Public Health.
