Provide individual counseling; group counseling to inmates to help them meet their goals in rehabilitation through relapse-prevention planning, psycho-education and job skill training. Responsible for assessments/intakes; discharge planning and aftercare plan for clients returning to the community to include program referral for substance abuse treatment.

As a substance abuse counselor I was part of a support system for people with drug and alcohol problems and other behavioral issues. Individuals were taught how to modify their behavior with the intention of full recovery. On an ongoing basis clients was provided critical alcohol and other drug assessment and referral services to be gender-responsive and trauma-informed.

Provided case management services to tenants who have a history of chronic street homelessness and substance abuse issues. This included intake & assessment, client engagement, treatment and service plans, and coordination amongst other providers for service needs (i.e., detox, day treatment, psychiatric care, etc).
