Bharathi Saravanabhavan

Majored in Biomedical Engineering, Minored in Computer Science
Georgia Institute of Technology, Class of 2018
From Lawrenceville, GA
I am a motivated student interested in the research and industry fields of biomedical engineering, especially in biomechanics and neural engineering. My current objectives are to conduct research in neural engineering and tie them with biomechanics to create bionic prosthetics in a cost-effective manner to provide for the disabled. I am currently interested in biomedical engineering internships and coops that are related to orthopedics and orthotics, neuroengineering, and medical device design.

Undergraduate Research Assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology
Research and design of a right hind leg active prosthetic for a cat and right hind leg passive C-shaped prosthetic for a goat. A C-shaped carbon fiber prosthetic for a goat has been constructed. Mathematical analyses and FEA have been conducted. The leg for the cat is underway. I, along with my team, hope to use the cat prosthesis as a stepping stone to develop lighter, simpler prosthesis for humans, specifically and possibly for children and babies. Overall responsibilities include: research, mechanical design and optimization, 3D modeling, mechanical analyses, development of the prototype, testing the prototype, and writing a journal paper.

Founder at Pleiades Games Studio
I am currently in the process of building my own app and game development company for various platforms. Currently in the development stage, I have yet to publish my work and undergo new long-term projects in game development for mobile devices. In the future, I am looking to expand beyond mobile devices to other platforms including consoles and PC's. Not just limited to games, I am also looking forward to develop utility apps that can be useful for the public, and in the long run incorporate my biotech knowledge for apps for the physically disabled.
