Bladimir Ramos Alvarado

Majored in Mechanical Engineering
Georgia Institute of Technology, Class of 2016
From Salamanca, Mexico
I got my PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. I am currently conducting research on nanoscale interactions between water and solids. Using molecular dynamics simulations, I investigate the wetting phenomenon of water on metals and graphitic carbon surfaces, heat transfer between these solids and stationary water, and heat transfer and hydrodynamics in nanochannels. I have experience conducting research on PEM fuel cells. I have conducted experimental analysis of PEMFCs performance using optimized gas diffusion layers as well as two-phase and single phase modeling of cells performance. Additionally, I have conducted numerical investigation of 3-D single-phase cooling of electronics using microchannels heat sinks, thermal performance of thermal interface materials, and failure analysis of chips using ball grid arrays. I am proficient in CFD modeling using ANSYS Fluent and COMSOL Multiphysics; MD modeling using LAMMPS and VMD; thermodynamic analysis using EES; programing and data analysis using MATLAB; and parallel computing using MPI and OpenMPI in Linux operating systems. I have conducted research in four different universities, in Mexico and the United States of America.
