Brady O'Brien

I am currently a Junior at Fairfield University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Med/Biology and a second major in Spanish Language/Linguistics. My biological coursework has spanned various topics in biology and chemistry, most including a laboratory technique section in addition to lecture. Similarly, I was involved in laboratory activity in high school, having been delegated a First Award in the PJAS Regional Science Fair as well as a Second Award in PJAS State Science Fair for my self-designed experiment in Microbiology. I am extremely self-driven and detail-oriented in terms of my studies in Biology, but feel that my natural inclinations toward curiosity and innovation provide a juxtaposition to my more pragmatic ideals that allow for me to consider concepts analytically, with an outside-the-box approach. I am extremely interested in Nutrition Research, Neuroscience Research, as well as Genetic Research, although I find that I can channel my passion into nearly every avenue of biology I have considered. My Spanish-oriented coursework has included topics in language, culture, and history. I am also a member of Alpha Mu Gamma, the National Collegiate Honors Society for Foreign Language. I received four Gold Medals in the Annual National Spanish Exam throughout my high school career and participated in a foreign-exchange program, during which I lived and studied in San Lorenzo del Escorial, Spain. My natural affinity for the Spanish language, as well as my extensive studies in the language have landed me the ability to converse at a professionally proficient level. Aside from my two primary concentrations in Spanish and Biology, I pride myself in my writing abilities as well as my interpersonal communication abilities. I believe that my widespread distribution in focus and passion have molded me into a candidate with characteristics suitable for a professional, analytic, and innovative community.
