• Coordinate with doctoral candidate and post-doctoral fellows on projects investigating the Sonic Hedgehog (SHH) Pathway, utilizing the embryonic chick animal model. The goal of the lab is to elucidate the mechanisms by which the retina and other tissues of the eye are regenerated • Characterize the SHH transcriptional factors Gli-1 and Gli-3R, during the process of embryonic chick retina regeneration • Organized a weekly meeting where recent pertinent scientific research articles were discussed and evaluated, so relevant results could help develop projects and stimulate ideas within the group • Participated in weekly laboratory meetings where projects were discussed and analyzed to assist fellow researchers • Presented new findings to multiple scientific bodies, including the national American Chemical Society, the 2013 and 2014 Miami University Undergraduate Research Forum, and the 2014 Miami University Cellular, Molecular, and Structural Biology annual Symposium • Awarded the 2013 Doctoral-Undergraduate Opportunity scholarship, a grant for research expenses, for excellent collaboration with PhD candidate • Awarded the 2014 Undergraduate Summer Scholars, a scholarship to work over the summer in the Del Rio-Tsonis Regeneration Laboratory
