February, 23 2017 - Verified by Ithaca CollegeAs the Choral Director for the Jr./Sr. High School, I conduct the 6th Grade Chorus, 7th/8th Grade Chorus, High School Chorus, and Chamber Choir. I also teach 6th grade general music and prepare 6th-12th grade students for All-County and NYSSMA music festivals.
As the Head Coach for the Jr. High team, I help fulfill the District's mission "to nurture, inspire and empower all students to discover their passions and achieve personal success" through the sport of wrestling. Responsibilities include creating practice plans for each student-athlete to challenge them and create personal growth as a person, student, and wrestler while preparing them for the Sr. High teams in a safe way. I communicate with coaches from other districts to create matches for each of the students that will benefit them at their current skill level. Assisting the Varsity team is also a requirement, along with overseeing equipment and facilities, and working with teachers to ensure students are fulfilling their academic responsibilities first and their athletic responsibilities second.
I substitute for K-12 Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and Teacher Aids. Responsibilities include implementation of lesson plans, creation of lesson plans if needed, classroom management, knowledge of district functions and regulations, and leaving summaries of the day. Each May, I have substituted for a single Kindergarten teacher during the assessment process of incoming students which lasts 3-5 days. I substitute mainly for general elementary teachers, but do have experience with middle and high school.
The main responsibility is to aid the other coaches in practice plans and practice management. I work with the varsity team at the beginning of their season and switch to the modified team when that season begins. I attend all matches for both teams along with coaching and seeding meetings for the modified team. Other responsibilities include creating and implementing practice plans in the absence of the modified coach and overseeing equipment and facilities. Along with the team statistician, I use the TrackWrestling software to record the varsity team's statistics and oversee documentation for post-season and seeding criteria.
