My decision to pursue a Masters of Arts Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education, Administration, and Leadership was grounded in the desire to pursue expanded roles in external funds development and administration. To support my decision, I focused my research on grant funded educational practices, non-traditional student engagement and support, and community college administration and leadership. To me, grants provide the fulcrum allowing colleges to better address the needs of diverse student bodies academically and to provide workforce-aligned training to community stakeholders. Being a third-generation Fresno educator and former student of the California Community College system, I identify strongly with the essential role of two-year public institutions and the part that grant funds play in their continuing evolution.
