January, 26 2017 - Verified by University of DelawareIn the role of Financial Advisor Intern I have a variety of responsibilities and tasks. I participate in Advisor shadowing, where I observe and assist in the client meeting process with experienced advisors. We learn more about the business and the financial services profession through not only the advisors and hands-on experience but also technology, system, and product training. During the course of the internship I will study and then take the Delaware Life and Health along with the FINRA SIE exams in order to get specific licensing for future use. The main goal of the internship is to explore my own personal market and assist with an advisor seminar, specifically to get attendees from my market preferably with young kids to a college planning seminar ran by Diamond State. Finally, I will conduct my own case study of a potential client to our senior leaders at the end of the internship.
I have worked at this restaurant since it opened in October. Being moved up to Pit Master, I learned and took on more responsibilities. I have learned how to do everything around the store. From cutting and preparing meats to preparing the sides to cashier and maintaining utilities around the store. I have done caterings with hundreds of people and handled it calmly and collected. These including weddings and other formal events where the company and myself provide full service catering. I have learned the ins and outs of the business and under the owner of this franchise learned about sales projections and keeping your percentages for labor as low as possible while staying efficient. It has been a great learning experience for me in this business and financial side of the business, and I continue to learn more about the business and finances everyday.
After being camp counselor for three years, I was moved up to Head Camp Counselor. I have now held this position the last two summers. The past two years I had the same tasks from being a camp counselor such as helping the kids with equipment and teaching them the fundamentals of the game of hockey, in order to make them better players. But I also was tasked with helping these kids ages 4-15 become better people off the ice. I gained more responsibility, for example I was in charge of making the schedule for the week for our camp, and having to deal with changes in ice time and number of kids each week to ensure the each week ran smooth. Additionally, I make sure that the other counselors stay on track and kids stay out of all trouble. Being able to teach the youth in a sport that I love to play has been a great experience for me, and the amount of impact I have made is what I like the most about the position.
I have worked at the restaurant since it opened in October 2017. As part of the pit crew, I handled the block at the store cutting the meats and preparing orders for customers. Along with preparing meat orders, I learned to do the side dishes for customers as well. These tasks along with opening and closing the store, and completing online orders were my responsibility. It was a great starting point and a position in a company I was able to move up.
In October 2017, I was asked by a former coach to help lead goalie clinics for goalies of ages 8-17 throughout the school year, providing instruction and additional help to improve their games. I correct any mistakes they make, tell them proper techniques and the flaws of their current techniques. This usually takes places during the school year and its this extra help that leads to them succeeding at their age group.
I started this job as a seasonal job. I play hockey and love working with kids, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to work at ice hockey camp for the summer. For three summers I was a camp counselor. I worked with kids from ages 4-15. I was tasked with helping the kids with equipment and teaching them the fundamentals of the game of hockey, in order to make them better players.
I worked in the store front of CVS during my junior and senior year of high school, I did a variety of different things around the store, including: cashier, stocking shelves, greeting customers, cleaning the store, opening and closing, helping to print pictures, providing passports, and overall providing great customer service. In only a year working there I received two raises and always had high scores from customers. It was the first job I ever took and it helped me get acclimated well to working life.
