Creative Assistant at Abphina

- Evaluate communication methods

- Help develop online marketing

- Write script for advertising videos

- Develop story boards for advertising videos

This experience has helped develop my communications skills on a visual platform. Writing scripts for content to help tell a story during presentations with clients such as MIT, and Harvard have pushed me to understand and write for a specific audience. I have also been developing my cultural communication skills in preparation for educating students in South East Africa about Malaria and science around it. I have also developed my professional communications when looking for outsourcing help and negotiating and interviewing a candidate.

May 2018 - Present
Customer Service Intern at Maranda Enterprises LLC

- Provided accurate and appropriate information in response to customer inquiries through phone calls and online Zendesk inquires.

- Writes copy for product listings on websites and Amazon.

- Inspects returned merchandise for defects and manages full quality control process.

- Process incoming orders from inception to fulfillment.

- Assists B2B sales and B2C sales.

This position developed my communication through working with B2B and B2C customers. Working with products in the E commerce industry helps develop knowledge for dealing with algorithms when it comes to customer issues. I learned how to represent a brand and help a customer have a positive recognition of the brand I was representing. I also grew in working with other businesses when they had issues with program implementation and coming up with logistical solutions such as international shipping.

May 2017 - Present
Head Counselor at Camp Lincoln and Camp Lake Hubert

- Planned, coordinated, and executed activities while guiding campers in personal growth and daily living skills.

- Assisted in direction and supervision of campers in their living unit and during activities while championing program initiatives and camp mission.

- Provided leadership to campers in all areas and acted as a role model in all areas of camp activities, including cleanliness, punctuality, chores, rules, and sportsmanship.

- Identified and responded to camper behavioral issues, and reported concerns to camp leadership.

- Communicated with parents regarding participant experiences and expectations.

- Maintained accurate program records, including incident reports, logs, and daily attendance reports.

In this experience, I learned the importance of a brand when dealing with customers. I had to properly communicate with a parent who wouldn't see or talk to their son for 4 weeks that they were okay and what activities they were experiencing. I also had to learn how to do that under the guidelines of Camp Lincoln which one of the top summer camps in the country. Making a positive impact of my campers resulted in direct feedback from parents which would result in the camper returning which means a returning customer.

May 2016 - August 2016
Aquaponic System Original Builder
I worked with Dr. Anderson to research, develop, plan, build, and execute the original Aquaponics system in the green house. The system supplied the cafe with seasonings grown in the system as well as Tilapia to be served during meals. I found the equipment we needed and how the system worked and handled the building and engineering when building it.
Research Projects
Hurricane Harvey Relief
- Created a GoFundMe page that raised over $2,600 to buy and bring supplies to victims of Hurricane Harvey in Rockport, TX - Spent 5 days assisting FEMA and Samaritans Purse with relief efforts and purchasing needed supplies. - Created press event with local news station with stories before and after trip. - Created awareness video to draw attention and raise money. This project taught me the importance of branding and using recent events to create a positive message. I was pushed to actually make a physical difference and show true passion about those who needed help by giving what was needed most, an actual hand. I worked with the media and again, created a successful press event to spread the message and further the impact I was creating. I also improved on my marketing abilities with creating a message and writing copy for a video.

I believe this project helped develop my communication skills. It taught me how to communicate on a professional level with well established companies. It also grew my creative side with problem solving ways to distribute a message. This project made an impact teaching me how to get support to gain support behind a message. It also shows my ability to put a team together and win as a team when at times there was doubt.
