Installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs complex electronics equipment and complete operational systems consisting of numerous complex integral components requiring knowledge of a wide range of electronics principles and practices. Work is primarily maintenance and repair of Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUV’s) but also includes a wide variety of other electronic equipment. Current position is the primary Guidance and Control (G&C) Module Technician, where I calibrate, test, upgrade, and repair these modules. The G&C Modules utilize analog to digital signal conversion, as well as advanced and extensive digital logic circuits, containing (but not limited) shift registers, EEPROM, RAM, ROM, counter circuits, and deliberate racing conditions. Extensive use of binary math, binary and octal conversions, and Boolean algebra in the diagnostics and repair of these devices. Conducted prototype development of new circuit board designs and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) construction and testing.
