Devon Wrightstone

Majored in Computer Science
Bloomsburg, a Commonwealth University, Class of 2020
From Enola, PA
"I assign myself no rank or any limit, and such an attitude is very much against the trend of the times. But my world has become one of infinite possibilities." Ralph Ellison, Invisible Man I am a third year student at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, currently pursuing a B.S. in Communication Sciences & Disorders, and a B.A. in Spanish Language & Culture. I minor in Linguistics and in Education of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, and am working to obtain my English Language Learner teaching certificate. My goals after finishing my undergraduate education are to attend a graduate program for Speech-Language Pathology, eventually obtaining a Doctorate and working clinically in this field. Language is my passion, and I can imagine no career more fulfilling than to be a speech pathologist, which will put me in a position to help those without a meaningful form of communication to be heard and respected in the community at large. In my free time at Bloomsburg University, I work in the Writing and Literacy Engagement Studio as a peer tutor, assisting students with writing assignments and reading strategies. I greatly enjoy the work I do; I hold a unique and wonderful position as a helpful resource for students without the intimidation students may feel speaking with professors. I am also involved in an executive position with my university's chapter of Colleges Against Cancer, an organization affiliated with the American Cancer Society, holding fundraisers during the academic year. My personal role is the Head Relay for Life Chair, meaning I work to put together this large fundraiser every April. My other passion is research, and I am one of two Research Co-chairs in the National Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association at my university. At the end of the day, I hope to one day be the fullest version of myself, to be able to say I took all opportunities available to me and followed through to the best of my ability.
