Lakeside Lutheran FFA (National FFA organization)
The letters FFA stand for Future Farmers of America. FFA is an extracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. The National FFA Organization remains committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. I helped with to make monthly newsletters, brochures for the Lakeside FFA club, scrapbooks after activities, and posterboards. I led school events on regular days off school, one called "Kinderfest"; the goal was to help present agricultural knowledge in a fun way to small groups of kindergartners that totaled to over two-hundred kids. I showed an assortment of animals and products in the local and State Fair through FFA; horses, sheep, honey bees and their production, and photography art. I also led tours of local dairy farms to middle schoolers. I worked closely with the FFA advisor and helped lead meetings in the Presidents absence, coordinated school auctions with alumni of the club, and helped organize the annual FFA Chapter Party at the end of the year. I was awarded the Greenhand Pin which is given to FFA members enrolled in their first year of high school with credit in agricultural science, that have satisfactory plans for a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program and that have demonstrated their understanding of the history and purpose of the FFA. I was also given the Most Active Sophomore Award, which is given to the member who has participated in the most FFA led events.
