Student Media Writer
As a small group, we met once or twice every two weeks to review the articles that had been written. We also shared new concepts, edited pieces aloud, and at the end of each meeting, set deadlines for the following meetings. We often left those gatherings with goals to complete an article or two before the next publishing deadline, and as an editor, had the additional task of helping a younger member edit a piece. During the off weeks, we spent time outside of our schoolwork to write on our most favorite subjects, and these oftentimes had to be completed in timely fashion to ensure they were edited before publishing. I felt that this activity provided me a window into life as a journalist, allowing me to pursue an interest while also improving my writing and time management skills alongside it. Prior to graduation, the older members of our team even began to plan for the release of a school-wide paper copy. Though it was never released, we set solid foundations for future club leaders to pursue this goal.

Art Open Studio
Open studio was crafted as a space where young artists could freely learn a new art technique or practice their preferred artistry without harsh responsibility or grading systems. I specialized in ceramics, and often spent my time spinning pottery at the wheel, glazing pieces, or learning to fire the kiln. I enjoyed experimenting with different clay shapes and glaze patterns twice a week, and the studio provided me a relaxing place to try new things without fear of judgement. Throughout my time, I had a ceramic teapot showcased at the local Worcester Art Museum.

Buddy Program
As a new student, it can be extremely difficult to acclimate into a new environment, especially when first entering high school. The main reason I joined this program was because I was inspired by the many upperclassman leaders that made me feel at home, and I truly wanted to aid in the welcoming of new community members. Over the summer, we had the responsibility of keeping in contact with our designated student, often answering any initial questions prior to their entrance into Worcester Academy society. When orientation came, we spent days preparing the campus and attending trainings. Upon the arrival of the new students, we would connect them with other new students, join their ice breakers and other fun games, and give them an in-depth tour of the buildings. Our responsibilities were not complete, as we continued to connect and make ourselves available to answer any lingering questions throughout the year.

varsity field hockey
We practiced weekly to prepare for seasonal games, developing our skills and player IQ, and responsibly attending all games and banquets. In addition to skill building on the field, we developed leadership skills alongside our elder players. Once a year, we also hosted breast cancer games to honor survivors and to raise money for those in need. The responsibilities of "Team Captain", awarded to me in the Fall of 2021, included caring for the general wellbeing of the team and representing the team off and on the field. We also mentored beginner players, passed down team traditions, and provided a line of communication between coaches or other staff and fellow players.

We engage in weekly practices and games, off-season maintenance, and team bonding exercises along the way. Overall, athletics helps in building community, as well as communication and leadership skills.

American Sign Language Club
As a club member, we spent an hour once a week learning sign language under the guidance of our club leader. Occasionally, we also spent our lessons watching videos in order to educate ourselves on deaf culture and on how to be most respectful for those with hearing impairments. Due to Covid, we moved online, but we still practiced sign language with our fellow peers in breakout rooms and even had a few guest speakers present on their experiences with hearing impairments.

Student Ambassador at Clark University

A student ambassador's main role is to give tours and lead large information sessions, often sharing personal experiences through kind conversation with prospective students. Ambassadors also begin to develop quick thinking skills, marketing tactics, and social intelligence through such community engagement in practice. In addition to giving tours, ambassadors develop organizational skills by assisting admissions counselors with time sensitive projects, writing postcards to local high schoolers in order to gather interest in the institution, and answer incoming phones calls from prospective families.

Summer Camp Counselor at Camp Counselor at YMCA

Prior to the summer season, all counselors underwent intensive child safety training. During a typical summer day, a group of ten children under the age of 7 were assigned to a counselor. Leadership skills were utilized to ensure the children made it to their scheduled activities on time for ample learning opportunity, while simultaneously maintaining the happiness of each child. This line of work also aided the development of interpersonal skills in learning to work with a variety of counselors. Additionally, it is impertinent that as a counselor, one must remain alert, responsive, and attentive to prioritize the safety and comfortability of the campers.

Web Design Intern at Wachusett Mountain

For two full weeks, I interned under supervision of Wachusett's web designers, helping them improve their website to better appeal to younger eyes. I first gathered information on which facets of the website needed the most help, then I reviewed the websites of other ski resorts to compare and contrast. I took notes to ultimately produce a final portfolio of written criticism to give to the supervisor. After presenting my work, I assisted in updating outdated captions, photos, and verbiage to make the website more concise and attractive to the public. As this internship was also my graduation project, I created a final presentation documenting my internship experiences, displaying my work to my graduating class and advisors.

As a team member, I attended biweekly meetings with other members to collaborate on new projects. We worked closely with the alumni database faculty, and assisted in their endeavors. For example, throughout the year, we organized social events for our graduating class, conjured ideas for our class gift, and assisted faculty members in gathering donations for the annual fund by marketing to our fellow peers.
