Endira Caldwell

I am a Sophomore studying in the Liberal Arts and Science program at the University of Iowa. Ever since I was young I've had an open curiosity about the world around me; about how other cultures functioned, or how their languages worked. I carried this fascination with me all the way into college where, fortunately, there is a strong Linguistic program. During my freshman year I joined Friends Without Borders, an organization on campus that bridges the gap between international and domestic students by pairing them up and encouraging global bonds. Every Friday I also take part in Korean Conversation Hour, which is an interactive hour of language and cultural exchange between students interested in learning genuinely about Korea from Koreans. Currently Im majoring in Linguistics while aspiring for both minors in Translation and Korean. I am in my second semester of workshopping translations, as well as my fourth semester of Korean. At the moment I am in contact with an advisor and we are exploring the possibilities of studying abroad this summer of 2019. I am Interested in pursuing a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) focus further down the line and possibly pursuing my masters.
